Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park. 

After breakfast at your place of stay in Kampala, you get into your relaxed safari vehicle in the company of your guide at 6:30Am and drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park 417km about 7 hours’ drive. You make a stop at Uganda Equator Crossing Kayabwe after driving 77km from Kampala and have time to explore this significant geographical site – the Sun’s way and the point of separation between the northern and southern hemisphere. Continue and make another stop at Igongo Cultural Center for an amazing traditional lunch where you enjoy a local food organically produced and freshly served. You can also take an optional tour to the Erijukiro Museum which features a range of artifacts of the tribes of south western Uganda and embark on the drive past Mbarara town and enjoy the views of Bunyaruguru Crater and the lush Kalinzu forest. You can make a stop at the crater field for sightseeing and photo taking. Arrive in Queen Elizabeth National Park in the evening for a simple drive along the road with possible views of elephants, Buffaloes, water bucks and may be lions after which you connect to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Morning wild game viewing and afternoon boat cruise along Kazinga Channel

You wake up for an early morning cup of coffee in the views of the moist savannah before heading to the park for the game drive at 7am. Undertake a game drive in the Kasenyi tracks and the Queen’s Mile in search of the amazing wild game including; cape Buffaloes, Leopards, Topi, Elephants, Kobs, Waterbucks, Warthogs, Hyena, lions, side striped jackals among other wildlife. Retreat from the activity for relaxation and lunch after which you gather at Mweya jetty for an afternoon Kazinga Channel boat cruise departing at 2pm. This cruise offers you an opportunity to see at close range the highest concentration of water submerged Hippos, surrounded by over 60 species of migrant and resident birds plus crocodiles drinking and resting at water edges. You retreat from the boat cruise and do an evening game drive along the Channel track to explore more wild game in their evening moments. Continue to the lodge for overnight.

Day 3: Whole day game drive in Ishasha sector in search of tree climbing lions

Transfer to the southern sector of Ishasha the re-known home for the tree climbing lions. The drive takes about 1 – 2 hours and upon arrival, you embark on the wildlife safari experience exploring the magical wild game including the lions that tend to the fig trees during the day time. The drive also exposes you to other games including the waterbucks, the elephants, the Buffaloes and the Uganda Kobs.

You have lunch in Ishasha and retreat to the northern section of Queen Elizabeth in the afternoon relaxing at the lodge until dinner and overnight

Day 4: Do Chimpanzee trekking in Kyambura gorge and transfer back to Kampala

After breakfast, embark on the drive to Kyambura gorge for a thrilling chimpanzee experience that tends to last 2 – 5 hours inclusive of one full hour of direct encounter. You explore the amazing lush Kyambura gorge with mature tropical forest existing in the 100m deep gorge traversed by a river on its floor.

You enjoy the views of the chimps as they feed, copulate, patrol, and socialize. After the encounter, you embark on the transfer to Kampala 417km about 7 hours’ drive arriving in the evening to mark the end of the tour.

    Best time to visit Uganda

    Uganda is open all-year-long, the best wildlife viewing months in Uganda are during the Dry season from late June to October.
